Explore the universe at TCCL with Arkansas Sky Observatories

   Take a tour of the night sky during “Pop-Up Planetarium With Arkansas Sky Observatories” on Thursday, July 11 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Central Library’s Pocahontas Greadington Learning & Creativity Center.    The pop-up planetarium can seat up to 30 participants at a time, with multiple sessions occurring throughout the day. Travel through the night sky and learn how to find the planets and the brighter constellations from your backyard.

TCCL presents Novel Talk as part of adult summer reading program

   TCCL continues the “Novel Talk: Smart Conversations for Serious Readers” series with “The Future is Now,” June 4, 7 p.m. in Central Library’s Pocahontas Greadington Learning and Creativity Center, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue.    Using Philip K. Dick’s classic “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” examine how the sci-fi genre envisions the past, present and future, and what fictional premonitions say about technological, societal and environmental realities of today.

Flood evacuees to be treated with TCCL summer reading program performer tomorrow morning

   Summer is supposed to be a time for relaxing and reading. A time to visit your local library to sign up for the summer reading program, earn great prizes and enjoy free programming.    The recent flooding in Green Country and in Tulsa along the Arkansas River has displaced hundreds of families from their homes and businesses, leaving their daily routines in upheaval.

Summer Reading Program begins with visit from NASA scientist

Kick off TCCL’s 2019 Adult Summer Reading Program with the out-of-this-world program “Meet the Scientist Behind ‘The Martian’: Dr. James Green” Wednesday, June 5 at 6:30 p.m. in Central Library’s Pocahontas Greadington Learning & Creativity Center.    Dr. Green, NASA chief scientist, was the consultant with 20th Century Fox during the making of “The Martian,” starring Matt Damon.

Skiatook Library set to reopen

   Skiatook Library, 316 E. Rogers, will reopen at noon on Thursday, May 16. The library was closed for repairs after minor damage from a broken sewage line.    Library staff is excited to welcome customers back to the book stacks just in time to experience “A Universe of Stories” during TCCL’s 2019 summer reading program.

Tulsa City-County Library to present 17th annual Asian-American Festival

   Celebrate and learn about the customs and traditions of Asian-Americans with entertaining, educational events for the entire family as Tulsa City-County Library presents its 17th annual Asian-American Festival from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 22 at the Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. Garnett Road. The festival is sponsored and funded by the Tulsa Library Trust. Admission is free.

TCCL receives national award for digital literacy innovation

   The American Electric Power/PSO Foundation Digital Literacy Lab on Central Library’s second floor features a sweeping view of downtown Tulsa. The inspirational setting is equal to the dreams of library customers who use the digital resources to make their visions a reality.
