Library Advocates to Protect eBook Access for All

Oct. 19, 2019Tulsa City-County Library (TCCL) has teamed up with the American Library Association (ALA), national libraries around the country and our neighboring state libraries, Pioneer Library system and Metropolitan Library System, in an effort to prevent newly proposed publisher restrictions on eBook purchasing.

   Oct. 18, 2019   Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a special conversation and book signing with best-selling author Ingrid Rojas Contreras on Oct. 19, 2-4 p.m. at Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. Garnett Road.

Walter Echo-Hawk to be inducted in Circle of Honor during ceremony at Zarrow Regional Library

   Sept. 16, 2019   Tulsa City-County Library’s American Indian Resource Center will induct Walter Echo-Hawk into the Circle of Honor during a special presentation March 7, 2020, 10:30 a.m. at Zarrow Regional Library, 2224 W. 51st St.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with Tulsa City-County Library

   Sept. 12, 2019   Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with TCCL during a month-long series honoring the colorful traditions of Hispanic culture. Fiestas, crafts, storytimes and book discussions, as well as a visit from a best-selling author, are planned for readers.

TCCL welcomes new Hispanic Resource Center coordinator

   Sept. 10, 2019   As a child, Amairani Perez would visit Martin Regional Library every Saturday with her family to explore the library’s world of resources.   She remembers her father reading his favorite magazines in the Hispanic Resource Center as she was “diving into the expansive worlds that could be afforded to readers through literature.”

TCCL presents community conversation on trauma and resiliency

   Aug. 20, 2019   Using Gail Honeyman’s best-selling novel “Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine” as a launching point, join readers for the program “Building Hope: A Community Conversation About Trauma and Resiliency” on Sept. 19 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. Garnett Road.   Community Conversations is a reading and discussion program designed to give participants an opportunity for authentic and transformative dialogue about challenging issues.

TCCL celebrates the generational link to literacy

   Aug. 16, 2019   To celebrate the joy of reading and the generational bond books bring, TCCL presents a series of programs to highlight “Grandparents Day” at the library.

One Book, One Tulsa to explore “All You Can Ever Know”

   Aug. 7, 2019   What does it mean to lose your roots – within your culture, within your family – and what happens when you find them?   TCCL invites you to participate in “One Book, One Tulsa,” by reading Nicole Chung’s 2018 memoir “All You Can Ever Know,” a profound, moving chronicle of Chung’s cross-cultural adoption and search for her biological Korean parents. Chung’s debut novel was named Best Book of the Year by The Washington Post, Time, Library Journal and many other prestigious publications.
