One Book, One Tulsa to explore "Killers of the Flower Moon"

   Tulsa City-County Library invites Tulsa County residents to join the conversation and participate in “One Book, One Tulsa,” a communitywide reading initiative focusing on David Grann’s “Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI” and culminating with a free presentation by the author.

TCCL presents workshop on planning your online legacy

   Do you know how your memories spread between your computer, email and social media accounts will be handled after your death?    Join Katlin Seagraves, Central Library’s Digital Literacy Lab coordinator, as she introduces the basics of digital estate planning during “Online Legacies and Digital Estate Planning.” Participants can choose from one of the following scheduled programs:

You are invited to spend an evening with three best-selling and award-winning authors, enjoy delicious food, and, best of all, support TCCL’s Ruth G. Hardman Adult Literacy Service.    As part of National Literacy Awareness Month, TCCL and the Tulsa Library Trust present “Chapters: A Casual Evening of Books, Bards and Bites” Sept. 20th, 6:30 p.m. at Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St. Individual tickets are $50 and can be reserved by calling 918-549-7494.

Discover new cultures at the library during World in a Box Day

Families can explore and learn about cultures from around the globe during “World in a Box Day” Aug. 4, 11 a.m.-3 p.m. in Central Library’s Pocahontas Greadington Learning and Creativity Center, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue.    Enjoy live performances, see vibrant dances and participate in hands-on activities for all ages through the Tulsa Global Alliance Cultural Box Program. By visiting each country’s booth, participants will have their passport stamped to show their imaginations have traveled around the world.

TCCL celebrates the world of Harry Potter with Quidditch game, movie marathon and trivia

In the 20 years since J.K. Rowling first published “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone,” millions of readers have embraced the magical world of muggles.    TCCL will celebrate this achievement with a “Quidditch World Cup: Exhibition Match” at Helmerich Library, 5131 E. 91st St., July 20, 10-11 a.m.

Discuss all things Dylan during book talk with Michael Chaiken

   From becoming a best-selling musician more than 50 years ago to earning a Nobel Prize in Literature, Bob Dylan is one of the most influential artists of all time.    Join Michael Chaiken, curator of the Bob Dylan Archive, for a lively and thought-provoking discussion of Dylan’s memoir, “Chronicles.” Participants are encouraged to read the book prior to the event on July 24, 7 p.m. in Central Library’s Pocahontas Greadington Learning and Creativity Center, Fifth St. and Denver Ave.

Jeanne B. Goodwin Storytelling Festival brings imagination to life at the library

The annual Jeanne B. Goodwin Storytelling Festival celebrates the rich tradition of sharing wisdom through words.    See familiar stories brought to life by local performer and speaker Therese Anderson-Aduni as well as the Langston Hughes Academy Drama Team led by Justin Daniels. All ages are invited to this celebration of words on July 18, 10 a.m., at Rudisill Regional Library, 1520 N. Hartford.

Central Library presents storytime with local National Football League star

   Before Tulsa-native Tyler Lockett achieved his goal of playing in the National Football League with the Seattle Seahawks, he dreamed of greatness by reading books about his sporting heroes.

TCCL presents Tulsa’s most imaginative during Ignite Tulsa: Creative Spark

   You are invited to join Tulsa’s most creative and imaginative people during “Ignite Tulsa: Creative Spark” June 21, 6:30-8:30 p.m. in Central Library’s Pocahontas Greadington Learning & Creativity Center.    Doors open at 6 p.m. with the band “Hey Judy” adding musical entertainment throughout the evening.
