TCCL hosts course in Kiowa Language

   March 26, 2019   Leon Hawzipta’s first memories of hearing his Kiowa language were as a child listening to elders sing church hymns and recite prayers.   Now, as the advisor for the Tulsa Kiowa Language and Culture Revitalization Program, he works to ensure the culture and language of his tribe is kept alive.

Central’s downtown neighbor, the BOK Center, is hosting the first- and second-round games of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament.    Jan. 30, 2019   On Feb. 2, public libraries throughout the U.S. will celebrate Take Your Child to the Library Day with activities for children and families.

Great Decisions Discussion series addresses global challenges

   Jan. 17, 2019   The annual Great Decisions Discussion series explores how remote global challenges are increasingly impacting our communities.   Robert Donaldson will open the series with a keynote address Sunday, Jan. 27, 2:30 p.m., in Central Library’s Aaronson Auditorium, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue.  The program is free and open to the public.

TCCL and the National Book Foundation welcome two acclaimed authors

   Jan. 15, 2019   Join 2017 National Book Award Winner Robin Benway and 2018 Finalist Brandon Hobson for a lively presentation at Central Library, Fifth Street and Denver Avenue, Feb. 12, 7-8:30 p.m.

TCCL to honor award-winning poet and author Laura Tohe with Festival of Words Writers Award followed by day of family programs

   Jan. 4, 2019   Laura Tohe (Diné, Tsénahabiłnii, Sleepy Rock People clan, and born for the Tódich’inii, Bitter Water clan) will receive the Tulsa Library Trust’s “Festival of Words Writers Award” March 2, 10:30 a.m., at Hardesty Regional Library’s Connor’s Cove, 8316 E. 93rd St.  Her award presentation will be followed by a book signing and a day of educational American Indian family events from 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.
