April 2015   “Write every day.”  That is the advice any award-winning author gives to aspiring writers.  The continuous practice helps build essential storytelling skills as well as establishing a daily routine to fuel creativity.   Tulsa City-County Library’s annual Young People’s Creative Writing contest can help achieve a writing routine.  The contest is geared much like a publisher works.  You are given deadline, parameters and encouraged to submit your best story.

Tulsa City-County Library to Host "Lead the Change" Workshop

April 2015   Tulsa City-County Library was chosen as only one of six locations nationally to host Library Journal’s “Lead the Change” workshop April 24, 9:30 a.m.-4 p.m., at Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St.   Librarians from a tri-state area will participate in the “Lead the Change” workshop which provides insights and tools to redefine collection development and reader’s advisory strategies, and transform book stacks into vibrant discovery centers that engage readers and drive circulation.

Touch-a-Truck Event to Super Size Owasso Library

April 2015   Through a child’s eyes everyday occurrences seem larger than life and sometimes out of reach.   Families are invited to explore and discover dozens of big trucks and emergency vehicles during “Touch-A-Truck.”  The Owasso Library, 103 W. Tulsa City-County Library Seeks Teen Team Summer Volunteers

   Teens who love libraries, books and technology are encouraged to volunteer at their local library this summer as a member of the Teen Team.    Tulsa City-County Library is currently accepting applications for Teen Team volunteers for the 2015 summer.  Applicants must be 13-15 years old and capable of volunteering several hours a week at their community library.  Duties include assisting librarians with activities associated with the children’s summer reading program.
