Great Lego Build Off Finals Set for Librarium

   All summer, children and teens have competed at various Tulsa City-County Libraries to build the best Lego creation.  Now they will face off for the ultimate in Lego building bragging rights.    To qualify for the finals children built an original design based on the summer reading program theme “Fizz, Boom, Read.”  Teens created an original design based on the theme “Spark a Reaction.”

Storytime with Tulsa Shock Players

   Tulsa Shock, a presenting sponsor for Tulsa City-County Library’s children’s and teen summer reading programs, will take a timeout from the hard court for a storytime in the book stacks.    Storytime with the Tulsa Shock will tip off July 28, 3 p.m., at Rudisill Regional Library, 1520 N. Books to Treasure Author/Illustrator to Share His Talents with Families

   Philip C. Stead, award-winning children’s book author and illustrator, is the featured illustrator for Tulsa City-County Library’s 2014 “Books to Treasure,” an annual event promoting the beauty of children’s literature and introducing the community to popular book illustrators.    Stead will speak, answer questions and sign copies of his books during a special visit Nov. 14, 7 p.m. at Hardesty Regional Library’s Connor’ s Cove, 8316 E. 93rd St.  This event is free and open to the public.

Touch-A-Truck Event to Super Size Martin Regional Library

     From kitchen cabinets to school auditoriums, everyday occurrences seem larger than life through a child’s eyes.    Families are invited to explore and discover dozens of big trucks, automobiles, trains, planes and a helicopter, during “Touch-A-Truck.”  Tulsa City-County Library’s Martin Regional Library, 2601 S. “Chapters” Literacy Fundraiser to Feature Authors David Berg, John Searles and Laurence J. Yadon

   Spend an enjoyable evening after hours in the library with three favorite authors while helping raise money and awareness for Tulsa City-County Library’s Ruth G. Hardman Adult Literacy Service.    In conjunction with National Literacy Awareness Month, Tulsa City-County Library and the Tulsa Library Trust are offering “Chapters: A Casual Evening of Books, Bards and Bites” on Friday, Sept. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Hardesty Regional Library, 8316 E. 93rd St. The cost is $50 per person. Annual Jeanne B. Goodwin Storytelling Festival Features Kirk Waller

   With more than 20 years of experience as an award-winning storyteller, Kirk Waller will share stories through spoken word, rhyme and music during two special library appearances.    As director of the Storytelling Programs at Oakland-based Stagebridge Senior Theater Company, Waller was named the winner of the 2010 J.J. Reneaux Emerging Artist Grant by the national Storytelling Network.  He was recognized for his signature musical and movement-infused storytelling style.

"Speakeasy" Fundraiser to Benefit Central Library's Renovation

You can help the Tulsa Central Library Renewed fundraising campaign and have an evening of 1920s fun at “Speakeasy,” June 18, 5:30-7:30 p.m. The scenic Mayo Hotel Penthouse Rooftop Bar and Lounge, 115 W. Fifth St., is the setting for this fundraiser filled with cocktails, canapés, music and dancing. Flappers and lounge lizards will enjoy the blast from the past while helping plan for the future of Central Library. Individual tickets are $75 The two-year renovation will enable Central Library to make critical updates to its systems, infrastructure, technology and façade.
